GODFATHER->Nayagan->Sarkar/Sarkar Raj

After a tired week of boring lectures in wireless Networking, my next stop was Chennai-Friday evening-Chennai express. The usual wish of a gal being ur neighbour in train and endless chatting till midnight was always there but then-no gal in the entire bogey, ‘it’s nothing new’-I coaxed myself. I went to Chennai to see my grandparents, and also meet my frenz. Unexpectedly Chennai wasn’t burning, but it was freaky humid, sweat oozing from me every second. Saturdays plan was Sarkar Raj in Mayajaal, I went there with nil expectations abt the movie-I hate Abhhishek, and BIG B is little too over-dozed on TV. But to my surprise, the movie was Average, untypical of an RGV movie(His movies suck big time mostly). Let me put it as clear as it is-NO Godfather-NO RGV. N this had scenes from Nayagan as well. For those who haven’t heard of nayagan-It’s a blockbuster Tamil movie-directed by Mani ratnam.
Coming back to Sarkar Raj, I d use SR in short-no directorial punch was there unlike in Nayagan, where u could find many scenes that had Mani’s brilliance.
One good thing-all the 3 ABs-Amitabh, Abhishek and Aishwarya have come with great performances.
I couldn’t stop myself from comparing SR with Nayagan-lets leave Godfather for now.
First-kamal-none can match him when it comes to acting-no offense to Big B here, but still I felt Kamal did that better. And then the music-every 5 mts there was this GOVINDA GOVINDA background score, pathetically cacophonous. I couldn’t but think of Nayagans songs and BGM-it was like the frog and the nightingale.
Unexpectedly Abhiskek has given a creditable performance in SR-reminds one of the Angry Young Man days of BIG B. Ash is visually very slick, very stylish. Her dressing needs special mention-typical business-woman-like.
For those who haven’t watched either Godfather or Nayagan, The crux of the movie can be encompassed in a dialogue one of the characters speaks: “agar Abhimanyu chakravyuh tak nahin aasakta, toh chakravyuh Abhimanyu ke paas lena padega!” (If Abhimanyu can’t come near the chakravyuh, let’s take the chakravyuh to Abhimanyu!).
Overall the movie was entertaining, only if u avoid comparing it with Godfather or Nayagan. I would give a rating 3/5 and recommend u to watch it ONLY if ur not prone to Migrane head-ache. NOISE !! NOISE !! everywhere.
