Slumdog Millionaire!!! Oscars????....

Yes! I saw Slumdog Millionaire……A very neat Hollywood film directed and cinematographed brilliantly by the foreign crew!!! Right from the beginning till the end, the movie doesn’t bore a bit…..driven by extraordinary music and an amazing screenplay, the movie is carried forward by Dev patel playing the teenaged Jamal, and Anil kapoor playing the arrogant Prem Kumar!!! But the real hero of the movie is the younger Jamal in the slums-he knows nothing about the bad, an ardent Amitabh fan, and a guy who instantly shows his helping hand to Latika, another slum girl!!! That’s so typical of kids-very sweetly directed by Danny Boyle!!! As for the music, Jai Ho….song rocks, so does Ringa Ringa though it reminds u of Laxmikanth Pyarelal’s musical brilliance Choli Ke Peeche……MIA’s paper planes song is also used here but it does fit very well in the movie!!! Overall Slumdog Millionaire is good-thumbs up definitely…….but if u ask me if it deserves all the hype and the big O award-as an Indian, Yes go for it Rehman!!!.....but as a film goer-I am sorry…..there have been better films than this; musically directed better!!!!!

Now for the second movie of the week-12 Angry Men- an absolutely brilliant movie, that stars just 12 actors (in the whole movie itself) as Jury members trying to convince each other to hang a young boy who is charged of murder of his own father!!! Just one room and an oval shaped table, 12 Angry Men is all about dialogue delivery and stupendous acting!!! Inspired by the IMDB rakings, I downloaded this movie but never felt like watching it-“It’s a %&*$ing 1957 movie!! Y should I waste my time in this “, I thought; for someone who didn’t mind watching crap like Mummy-3 and Constantine, it was utter stupidity!!!.....Somehow, driven by boredom at home, I started watching it-and trust me I got glued to the monitor!!! I recommend this movie to everyone who likes Classics……!!!
PSst: Its Rear Window and Raiders of The Lost Ark next in the list!!!...

Agree with you regarding the oscars and golden globe awards. There were better Tamil and Hindi movies, wher ARR has done a lot better. Anyway hope he gets an Oscar and fulfills the indian dream..

@Senthil:As u said, Rehmans Roja, Iruvar, to name a few were much better...but then what can be said about Ilayaraja, SD Burman, Salil Choudry, MS Viswanathan, Naushad....they were geniuses who added life to music!!...All said n done Rehman is after all an Indian-so fingers crossed :)

i agree with u to an extent on slumdog coz even i believe its being overhyped a lil to much.... its a good movie and its exactly how the americans wanna see india.... in poor light...

its not that nothing of that sort happens in india... but all in one go with that accent and three musketeers in school etc... naa :P

and wrt ARR, i dont wanna list his better songs ;) he deserves it nvertheless.... its jus like einstein winning the nobel for his "services to physics and photo electric effect" and not the theory of relativity :P

12 angry men shud be shown in every gd prep class :P

Slumdog millionaire is more hyped than anything else. ARR deserve the applaud, but not for a work which isn't as captivating as his other works(atleast for me!!!)

@Praveen: Its directed by a Briton...That might be one of the reasons for its hype....
